Cyanotype printing is one of the oldest photographic printing processes, developed in the 19th century by Sir John Herschel. This technique involves coating paper or fabric with a solution of ferric ammonium citrate and potassium ferricyanide. When exposed to ultraviolet light, the chemicals react to form a blue pigment called Prussian blue. After exposure, the material is washed in water, which removes the unexposed chemicals, leaving behind a distinctive, rich blue image. Cyanotypes are celebrated for their simplicity and the unique, striking blue tones they produce. Every print is unique and blemishes are considered a part of their beauty.
The print colour will differ from your monitor, every print being made by hand.
